All About Phil...
Born and raised in Swansea, Wales, Phil has been involved in music in one form or another for most of his life. At 15yrs old Phil performed his first live gig with a band, and over the next few years went on to write, record and perform original material until the age of 20, when Phil left his first band. Phil continued to perform over the next few years, encompassing Rock, Blues, Soul and Funk genres, and occasionally penned a song or two along the way. Eventually, Phil turned his back on performing live (save the odd 'scratch' gig if a friend was in need of a singer) and all but retired from music for the next six years, concentrating his efforts on family life and work. Since being introduced to home recording, Phil has spent the last few years writing and composing aimlessly, happy enough to publish some of his endeavours online, but remaining unsatisfied that he had 'found his voice'. In 2007 Phil was a semi-finalist in the UK Songwriting Contest with 'If You Were In Love With Me'. He was also a semi-finalist in 2010 when he entered for the 2nd time with 'I Still Believe'. The release of Phil's first solo commercial release 'Born To Lose' signals the end of that phase, and he is now writing, recording and completing his first solo album. He is hoping to continue the ethos of 'Born To Lose' and produce an album of music that offers some food for thought. An interest in amateur filming and video-making is also coming to light, and he hopes to be able produce videos for most of his work. Phil's live vocal prowess is well noted throughout South Wales, and he can currently be caught playing a blistering Classic Rock set live with 'The Journeymen' throughout Wales. |
